How to make an animal swallow the pill?

The best method is to hide the product within a bite of very tasty food (ham, cheese, minced meat) that masks the flavour. Many animal, and in particular cats, discover the trick and refuse the bite or spit the drug out. In these cases, forced administration should be used.
Grasp the snout firmly taking care not to cause pain so as not to make the animal suspicious and induce it to turn.

Insert the thumb and index finger of the left hand behind the upper canines and raise the head, thus the mouth opens. The tablet is then placed as deep as possible in the oral cavity, at the base of the tongue and the mouth is kept closed for a few seconds by massaging the throat to stimulate the swallowing reflex.
